University Sports Union

The University Sports Union

The primary purpose of the Sports Union is to get more people, more active, more often.

We believe your first experience in sport is critical to ensuring your ongoing participation and progression, which is why we do everything we can to support your development.

This includes supporting a large number of students through Continuous Personal Development, which provides funding for qualifications in Coaching, Refereeing and Fitness.

Our sports clubs are also run by committees which give interested students a platform to set the future direction of their club. Not only is membership of a sports club great for your health and your social life, it can be great for your CV too. The Sports Union supports its clubs across local, regional and international competition.

Sports Union Membership

If you plan to join a sports club which participates in the BUCS leagues, you will need to pay a membership fee to the Sports Union.

There are two membership options available to all matriculated students:

  • Option 1: £80 Sports Union Membership.
  • Option 2: £150 Sports Union Membership plus academic year gym membership.

Abertay Sports Clubs

Becoming a member of a Sports Club at Abertay is a great way to stay fit, meet new people outside your usual social circles and give you that much-needed downtime after a long day of studying.

We currently have lots of sports clubs supporting many competitive and social teams here at Abertay ranging from traditional team sports such as football and rugby to individual sports such as Judo and Athletics. Learn more about all of them in the section below.
